Teddy Bear Tea

Before we went to Scotland we hosted a tea party for all of Becca's stuffed animals (or should I say, soft toys...) Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the constant requests from the kids to do this or that. I never feel like there are enough hours in each day to do everything (Why, for example, does laundry never end? If only we could do it once and be done with it, you know?!) Usually I'm less patient and less fun than I would like to be. But on this particular gray day, I couldn't say no to Becca's request for a tea party for her soft toys. Especially since we'd already made Monday Muffins so we could just add some homemade peanut butter cups (they are so easy!!: chocolate, coconut oil, peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla, and a refrigerator) and call it good. Oh, and we made tea, too, of course. And poured it into our fancy cups.

Justin participated in the eating and drinking parts, but wasn't too enthusiastic about the dressing-up-stuffed-animals part. He just read a book about trains instead during that part.

These are so yummy! And so much less-gross than the factory-made ones!

At the end of the tea party, we ended up with a gigantic fort-like structure in the living room, very little space to do anything else, and my to-do list was no shorter (in fact, it was longer...). But the kids had a fun day. (Except for one brief interlude where they both fought about whether the fort was part of the tea party or not.  Actually, it was a pretty epic fight with lots of tears. Just keeping it real :))

  1. i love that you make time to do things with your kids. I mean, that's a funny thing to say- that's what parents do, right? but...not all parents do )-:
Sorry to inform you that even with only one kid, now long grown up, laundry is never done and i still never get to everything on my to do lists in a timely manner (hey but after 35 years of moving it from one list to the next we did finally create wills a few years ago (-:)

  2. Well, I don't make time as often as I would like! I'm really trying these days, though. We had quite a few months of "no" because I was so preoccupied with the move. So I'm trying for "yes" more. I get there maybe once a week :) And wills...oh, that's been on our list for a decade now, too. As has the laundry. Which just keeps coming back...

  3. Hopefully you invited Pooh and Piglet. They do so enjoy a good tea, as long as there is honey!
