Village Traffic
When we moved here from Boston we knew we wanted a more rural living situation, so instead of looking for houses in Oxford, we looked in areas surrounding the train lines into Oxford. We ended up in the beautiful Cotswolds. Our little village would definitely be considered rural, although now most people aren't in really rural occupations anymore. It's a rather expensive rural area, popular amongst wealthy Londoners looking for a weekend retreat. Nonetheless, there are plenty of working farms around here, and we have lots of sheep and horses dotting the hills around our village.
Sometimes, though, we still hit traffic when we're heading out of town:

Probably hard to see from the bad smartphone pictures in the passenger seat, but we definitely see as many horses as cars driving around here. It's fun to hear the clip clop of the horses hooves going by so frequently because it makes me feel like I'm in the eighteenth century (or in Amish country)...
Have you been able to find local sources for fresh milk, eggs or meats?
ReplyDeleteFunny, I've been thinking about writing a post on that...It's a long story, but the short version is: we've found a place for meat, but not poultry, and we found a good place for dairy and eggs in theory, but they don't return calls or emails (ppl have told me this is standard...hard to get in touch with them, but they're good once you're a customer...never had so much trouble trying to get someone to take my money!!)
