Northleach Steam and Vintage Show

Image
There is so much to catch up on! This post dates back to late August, I think! We went to the Northleach Steam and Vintage Show with our friends. There were lots of old cars and steam machines and other interesting things to see. The pictures above are of some of the old steam engines. They come from all over the country, and as I understand it they are privately owned. The machine above was hooked up to power a wood splitter which was pretty fun to watch. The kids liked the steam, but by far the highlight for Justin was the bus you see below. The guy who brought it to the show (it was owned by his son) saw Justin and his friend looking at it yearningly and let them climb under the ropes and go inside. I think it was definitely a highlight for both boys. Rebecca went in, too, so as not to be left out. I stayed outside and chatted with the guy who was a motorcycle enthusiast (you can see various motorcycles all around the bus.) Just took some pictures from inside.

Grateful

Today I'm grateful for: -our family -our health (although Rebecca and Justin are recovering from a cold) -our extended family -our faith -our new house, which we are finally settled in (more on that soon) -the experience of living in a new country -our friends here and back in the States -the organic farm down the road which agreed to kill a turkey for us early (here, turkey has replaced goose as the primary Christmas meal); I told the kids if we couldn't find a turkey I'd cook a chicken and all the fixings and Justin responded, "The turkey is what makes it a holiday meal. Otherwise it's just chicken with dessert." -the chance to spend most of my days with our kids learning together -nature -and a million other things, including the fact that Eric and I both managed to pass our British drivers' tests (more on that later, too) Hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving!
